This kindergarten with youth-care facility is located in an atmospheric urban hillside in the suburbia of Hannover/ Germany. Besides concise framing through the edge of the city / countryside, and a rectangular connected new housing area, the local determination of the building is marked by openness to the garden and protective closure towards the street. Avoiding any fencing, the building additionally serves as a communicative gathering focal-point in the neighborhood. The design concept itself, analogous to the shaping of child consciousness, questions and answers specific internal and external references. The building core incorporates a steel skeleton, which gives the building a sculptural variability and adaptability to possible future differences in usage, from sheltering a community center to a supermarket.
